When I first met Candice, waaaay back (I think they booked me in the winter of 2010), meeting her was just like chatting with a friend. So I was excited to photograph their engagement session on the Boston waterfront this fall, and finally their wedding at The Barn at Gibbett Hill this October.

Amy, Shira’s mother, did an incredible job at coordinating everything, and the day was gorgeous. And without a doubt, this family has some of the best horahs (chair dances) that I’ve ever seen.

The weather proved to be a little on the damp side, so the ceremony, which was originally scheduled to be outside, was moved into the main hall. The stage made a dramatic backdrop to a very moving ceremony. One of the things that I loved about this day is that Melissa and Aubrey stayed true to their beliefs – they made sure that the food was locally sourced, they made sure the chocolates that they gave as favors were fair-trade, and they made a speech at the end of their ceremony about fighting for marriage equality in the US.

It may sound strange to shoot in a town hall, but it actually resembles an old library, with gorgeous wood detailing, marble walls, and beautiful old windows. So perfect timing to show you some details from a farm wedding that I photographed last year, where the emphasis was on a rustic vintage feel, delicate flowers, found natural objects, and a rabbit theme. The couple even had a vintage typewriter instead of a guest book, so guests could type out notes to them. Enjoy!

We photographed in downtown Marblehead then stumbled upon this cute little hillside park with some amazing old stone, beautiful views of the water, and perfect light.
