Montana and Poul eloped last July in Denmark (Poul’s home country) but decided, why not still have a party? So I was able to document the festivities at the Commandant’s House last weekend. I think they get the award for most original songs composed for a wedding celebration! (For details on that, keep reading!)
The desserts were all Danish pastry, of course.
Montana looking lovely in all her casual elegance.
Since the Commandant’s House is right on the Navy Yard, the guests were able to take a tour of the USS Constitution.
Lawn games, anyone?
So now for the story about the songs. It’s a Danish tradition that the mother of the groom composes an original song, and she and the guests sing it to the couple at the reception. So here’s Poul’s lovely Danish mother belting out a tune.
So, going along with tradition, Montana’s mother figures she’d do it as well (even though she’s American). The crowd was roaring during her song which told the story of Montana and Poul and was set to the music of the Beatles “Ob-la-di Ob-la-di. Life Goes on”.
The chorus. . .
The party continues!
A special shout-out goes to Off the Vine catering for their wonderful food, service, and timing! Very impressive.
Montana and Poul, thanks for having me share in your celebration!
